After Grand Central Terminal, our next stop was Times Square. It is very close to Grand Central Terminal and Empire State Building, at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue. It is another important touristic destination in NYC. The square itself is covered by enormous bright billboards and commercials. Just standing and watching those billboards is entertaining itself. I believe that it is one of the world’s busiest pedestrian areas. According to data, 50 million tourists visit Times Square annually.
We spent nearly one hour in Times Square and watch the crowds. You can see people from all over the world. All races, all languages, all kinds of people… It is a kind of gathering hub. Elif played with the pigeons and pet them.
To sum up, we definitely liked to be there. Especially, Elif liked the bright screen with Disney animations or some other fancy commercials. So we spent enough time there and kept going to the Top of the Rock, Rockefeller Plaza.
Fun fact: Times square is not literally square. It is even not rectangular. And, it is even not a triangle or circle. it is closer in shape to a bowtie. There are two triangles emanating roughly north and south from 45th Street.
